Love and Logic Philosophy
This philosophy was developed by Jim Fay (educator and principal) and Foster W. Cline, M.D. (adult and child psychiatrist), the founders of the Love and Logic Institute, Inc. in Golden, Colorado. This philosophy is practical, straightforward and backed by 30 years of experience. The theoretical core of this approach is the idea that success for children of all ages rests on a balance of unconditional compassion, firm behavioral limits, and logical consequences.

What is Love and Logic?

 - Love allows children to grow through their mistakes.
 - Logic allows them to learn from the consequences of their choices.

The Love and Logic Process

   Shared Control
    - Gain control by giving away the control you don’t need.

   Shared thinking/decision-making
    - Provide opportunities for the child to do the greatest amount of thinking/decision making.

Equal shares of consequences with empathy
    - An absence of anger causes a child to think and learn from his/her mistakes.

   Maintain the child’s self concept
    - Increased self-concept leads to improved behavior and improved achievement.
